About

As a librarian with twenty years experience in both school and public libraries I have seen how books make a difference to people and how sharing books with others creates a community.

For many years I was a committee member of the Surrey Branch of the School Library Association and latterly spent four years as Chair of the Committee. Having now retired from school librarianship I have time to read and review more books than ever before.

My monthly newsletter, Reading Matters, published on the first Saturday on the month, is a quick guide to all the latest news and contains helpful links, resources and reviews. I continue to share book recommendations with librarians, teachers, parents and all who care about books for children of all ages through this site and also through my regular reviews the Just Imagine website. For a few years I reviewed children’s books for The Bookbag and they can be found here and I have also reviewed for TSL (The School Librarian Journal for SLA members). In 2018 I was invited to write an article about the Great School Libraries Campaign for Synergy the magazine for members of The School Library Association of Victoria which you can access here.
